Let's start at the beginning: what is earthbongo?

earthbongo is a social network with a purpose. We organize and motivate people to collectively make the world a better place, one project at a time. Whether your vision is to protect the environment, improve your neighborhood, or support the arts, there's a project for that on earthbongo. Join us and Amplify the Good™.

What we're not, and what we are

We're not about fundraising: there are lots of good sites for that already.

We're not really about conversation for the sake of conversation, or about news publishing, though you can do that here.

We're about something different: we're about inspiring your members and supports to take action on your behalf, and measuring their results.

We're all about action.

earthbongo offers a home for corporations and cause-related organizations to build their action-oriented communities.
Our site turns dry lists of projects into active, community-oriented projects that "live and breathe."
Kids are welcome and encouraged to use earthbongo.
Many other sites are top-down, offering solutions only from an organization. At the discretion of the partner, their community site can also include user-generated projects.
earthbongo is a unique social engine, one that is wrapped around tools for creating and tracking activities that help the earth and people's communities, not for throwing virtual snowballs at each other (though that can be fun sometimes, we know).

What makes a good project on earthbongo?

We encourage organizations to think beyond their mission to their vision. What kind of world are they striving to create? What activities can people do themselves that promote this vision?

Your supporters, members, and customers have signed up with you for a reason: they want to see your vision (and perhaps the lifestyle promoted by your brand) turned into reality.

With earthbongo you can tap into their support and goodwill by encouraging them to act to make that vision a reality. When they encourage their friends to join with them, they'll help spread your vision and message even more. When they report back, you'll be able to see the impact of your social media outreach quantitatively by their reported metrics, and also qualitatively, by the comments, photos, videos and other resources they've shared.

How can we use earthbongo?

Can we just, you know, use it?

Absolutely. You can use earthbongo right now. It's free, and it'll "just work" — right out of the box, as it were.

Just sign up, create an organization, and start listing projects. Let your members and supporters know what you’ve got going on, and ask them to join in. They’ll inspire each other, do good things that fulfill your vision for a better world, and bring in their friends, family, and neighbors to help them.

Can we customize it a little bit?

We do offer a deeper level of customization for partners who want to integrate the earthbongo experience into their current web sites. By joining earthbongo's Partner Program, you can completely customize the earthbongo platform and focus it on the vision of your organization.

We'll still host the whole thing to keep things simple for you, run the social network and maintain it, and connect it to the wider earthbongo universe to keep people coming back for more. But once we've worked with you to set up your custom version of the earthbongo platform, you can link to it from your own site to create a more seamless user experience.

With a custom community (sometimes we call this a co-branded site), all of the projects, people, and content you see will belong to your own organization. The basic color scheme and look of the site will fit better with your existing web site as well. When your users click over to your "community projects" hosted on the earthbongo platform, they'll will still feel a strong connection with your current web site, and they won't be distracted by competing projects from other organizations. We'll also work with you to help promote your projects and gain a following on the earthbongo platform.

And this costs...

A small fortune? No. The whole idea of our company is that we want to stay very close to the grassroots. We don't need or even want to make a killing with each partner. We'd far rather have lots of small, grassroots partners than a few giant conglomerates. It's better for you; it's better for us.

If you are a 501(c)3, K-12 school, church group, or community organization, we can help you create your custom, co-branding community completely for free.

Why can't an organization just do this itself?

Rather than building a private community on their own web site as a destination in its own right, we feel that offering to have companies homestead on earthbongo is a better way to go. Creating and running a social network is not necessarily within the core mission of an organization—but finding new ways to reach out to the community is.

A company can spend tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars — or much more — trying to build their site into a community hub, taking on the never-ending burden of keeping that community fresh, vibrant, growing, and one of their user's top destinations.

Instead, earthbongo is building a community of self-selected, action-oriented people, including kids (and never underestimate a determined kid), who are seeking ways to improve their lives and their world. We believe these are precisely the kind of people that our partners (you!) are looking for. Not only that, but the earthbongo community constantly refreshes itself as new organizations come on board. By giving our partners the ability to establish their own communities in this online world, we are helping them reach their own corporate goals for more efficiently and cost effectively than they could ever achieve otherwise.
