An earthbongo project is the creation of someone like you.
It can be big or small, serious or playful. Get inspired, tap the drum, start a rhythm, and the results will come.

So I read an article in Sunset Magazine about a woman in California who, come trash day, has NO TRASH AT ALL. I mean nothing. Zip. Zero. NADA. My thoughts ranged from curiosity, to sympathy (she must have issues), to revulsion, to defensiveness (we have LOTS of recycling, thank you very ...

Please join, and let's get some composting info together - all the how-to's and how-not-to-do's.
What have you found to be easy or hard about composting? Do you do it? Why do you, or why don't you? It's a pretty easy way to save an energy source and give it back to the plants we grow an...

Dana sent this document to some of us earthbongo creators, and I wanted it to have a wider audience. This is an amazing, beautiful guide to greening your own environment and learning about Wangari Matthai's Greenbelt Movement. The photos alone will knock your socks off.

That wonderful stuff you add to your potting mix is actually a thousand years old sphagnum moss. They are digging up irreplaceable peat bogs for your gardening pleasure. Better choices are coconut coir and compost. Some New Zealand farmers are harvesting peat in a sustainable way but how wo...

Inspired by the no more plastic & paper project, I was reminded of my friend Stephanie in Chicago who started bringing her own container to the restaurant rather than taking home styrofoam or plastics.
Like the plastic bags, it takes a bit of time & patience to develop the h...

I thought this was a pretty good article from the LA Times. It's from someone writing a column under the heading "Realist Idealist" and has their experiences as to what worked for them, and what did not, in their attempts at living more ecologically friendly.

Bring your own bags to the store when you go shopping. Simple. The key is to remember to have them handy. I keep mine in the car at all times.

Eating less meat has been a vague goal of mine for some time now. I don't want to become a vegetarian, because, well, I like meat! Maybe I'd be healthier by being a vegetarian. But I'm just not ready to take that step.
But here's a project that I think can nudge me in the right direction ...

I recently counted the number of trashcans in our eight room house. I realized that all of the waste not in the dining/living/kitchen areas is put, understandingly, into the bin closest to where I am at the given moment. Then, that bin gets emptied into the main kitchen trashcan and out to a ...

I'd like to clean up the area around me. I am going to pick up the part of the Burke Gilman that is in front of my studio. If we all took on the grounds around our home or office, we could make a huge difference. SO many soda bottles and candy wrappers, so little time. If you'd like to join me i...
