Environmental projects, community events & personal commitments.
Project creators launch their ideas and create goals that determine the success of the project. Participants join in, accomplish goals, and earn rewards.
It can be big or small, serious or playful. Get inspired, tap the drum, start a rhythm, and the results will come.
This project is a kind of journey. And I am hoping that others who are runners might take this journey with me.
I love running. I am 46-years old and ran the Seattle Marathon 2 years ago. I was planning to run the Portland Marathon this past year, but I was getting shin splints, so I had to back off. (My plan is to train better and run it next year for certain!)
I would like to combine my enjoyment of running with some cause. So I launched this project to see if anyone else might want to think about running with a purpose in mind as well, and try to do something good for the world, too, by running.
I know there is something called Team in Training. I might contact them and see if there is something I can join in on. There are probably other events as well, maybe something less than a marathon -- like a 10K where the point is to raise money for a cause.
So I thought I would launch this project and see if others wanted to join me, join events local to them, use their passion of running to do a little good, and blog about their experiences with me on the community page of this project.
Thanks very much!

I love this idea and know my whole family would like to participate. We'll put our thinking caps on with you!

I haven't been doing much running over the last year. And that is a serious understatement. If I'm doing the Shamrock Run, it's time to shift it!
But since I get shinsplints, gotta shift slowly. Time to download the Couch 2 5K podcasts!
Just signed up with my friend Jess & "Team Zombie Sandwich" for the Shamrock Run. And I ran around the park, so it's a good day in the training department!

Thought I'd post an update, just to check in...
I've gotten shin splints somehow (!), but I'm working through them. I still would LOVE to run the Portland Marathon this October, so that is my goal. Now only if my shins cooperate!
If things go well, I'll know in the next 4 - 5 weeks if I'm healing up enough. If so, I'm going to run that race for a cause. That's my goal.

I ran in the Shamrock Run and had a blast. It a way to do something healthy with friends.
I find it hard to commit to regular running or swimming if I'm not in a race or in someway committed, so this project was good for me.
Thanks, Barry!
