Complain effectively: write a letter!
57-large

Do you have a pet peeve? Is there some issue that distracts you and makes you cranky? It probably frustrates other people too, and most of them are just sitting on their hands.

Today you will do something about it!

Who can help you? Is email or paper best? How can you say what you want to say in a way that will get heard? Marshall your thoughts and get going.

I'm frustrated with Quicken for the Mac. It's awkward and apparently not as good as the Windows version.

But I'm not going to switch to Windows!

I wrote to my bank (US Bank) because I think they should offer better financial planning tools to their account holders. My sister can budget, break out her purchases by category and use all kinds of nice graphs right on her Bank of America internet banking page.

Wouldn't it be nice to have all those tools right with your banking information? No importing, no messy file schlepping!

I wrote a letter to the school district about overcrowding and facilities issues at our school. Didn't expect much to come from it, but it sure helped me clarify my thinking and it made me feel a TON better.

And just tonight, the person to whom I sent the letter sent her own excellent summation of the situation with an invitation to an all school meeting. I'm glad parents at our school spoke up. This should be an interesting meeting!
