Walk instead of drive/ride (Goal Met!)
235-large

As a family we're commited to walking rather than driving whenever we can. At a minimum, we won't drive if our destination is one mile or less. I know this doesn't seem like much of a commitment, but it's amazing how often you may hop in the car to run to the store or to grab a quick meal and the store or restaurant is only six or seven blocks away. This has a negative impact on the environment in so many ways and its not as healthy as taking a walk.

It's fun to walk (especailly with family and friends), we stay connected to our community, we listen to bird calls in the early evening and it gives us more family time. Will you join us and make a commitment to walk instead of drive? Next time you have an errand to run & it's less than one mile, plan ahead so that you can walk and leave the car at home.

November 10, 2010   Kelli L. Newbie says, I was doing a really good job at this last spring, but have fallen off my commitment lately. By joining this project, I'm going to remind myself to step it up a bit, and give myself a little more time so that I can walk - or hop on my bike - when I need to pick up a few things for dinner. It's harder in the fall rain, but it always feels great once I"m out there!

September 16, 2010   Taylor L. As you well I can't...

As you well I can't drive sience I'm only 11. But what I can do is walk, bike,or sk8-bord. So instead of not driving I will remind my mom to walk or bike as a replacement for driving. Next time when my mom needs milk I will bike down to the little fosters market down the street. If you walk you will not only helping the earth out you'll also be geting exercise. I mean to say this have you ever felt worse after a walk?
